ABOUT DAYMON

Daymons musical roots trace back to his first on-stage performance with his mother when he was just three years old. They sang the song “Build My Mansion” written by Dottie Rambo. Daymon and his mom sang that song numerous times over the next several years and it became “their song”. Daymon grew up singing and playing music in church. His favorite groups were the Hinsons and the Happy Goodmans. He remembers spending countless hours in his family’s living room, standing in front of the console record player pretending he was on stage singing with those groups. He began playing the drums at a very early age and then learned to play the piano at the age of eleven. With his mother accompanying him on the accordion, and his younger brother playing the bass guitar, Daymon became the regular church pianist for his Dad’s church when he was only twelve years old. It was during this time that his mother decided to start a southern gospel trio. With Daymon on piano and singing lead, his brother playing bass, his mother and a close family friend doing vocals, the group would become known as “The Proclaimers”.

In the mid 90’s Daymon filled in playing bass guitar for his best friend Nathan Young and his trio “The Sounds of Redemption”. Sometime later Daymon, along with one of his other best friends, Doug Wiley joined Nathan and the Sounds of Redemption. With Nathan singing lead, Doug singing tenor, and Daymon singing baritone, the three developed a remarkable sound that has yet to be matched on the west coast. After taking some time off, the group later re-named themselves “Mercy Road Trio”. Nathan now lives in Ash Grove, Missouri and the three are no longer performing together on a regular basis. However, when Nathan is in California or Daymon is in Missouri, the two still sing together whenever possible. Daymon says “That will never change”.

In early 2003 Daymon joined the California Melody Boys as a soloist and fill-in bass singer. Just a few months later, when the group restructured and became a trio, Daymon moved into the baritone slot where he remained for the next ten years. During that time the group recorded six albums together, maintained a heavy traveling schedule, and made regular appearances at the Great Western Gospel Music Fan Festival. Daymon left the California Melody Boys in early 2013 and began his training to be a crime scene investigator

.

In October of 2014, just before recording his first solo album, Daymon accepted a position as the lead singer with RSV Quartet out of Bakersfield, CA.  Daymon is a licensed minister and will continue doing limited solo performances and speaking engagements when he’s not traveling with the quartet.

Daymon makes his home in Exeter, CA where he serves as the Director of Public Works for the City of Exeter. He’s also a reserve police officer and does crime scene investigations for the Exeter Police Department. His family consists of his beautiful wife Joanna and his four children Justin 27, Jordan 25, Dylan 22 and Ashlyn 15.
